Student
Services
The
Deanship for Student Affairs is responsible for the development,
coordination and supervision of programmed activities for students handled
through the offices of Admissions, Guidance and Counseling, Financial Aid,
Student Health Services, Quality of Life and Cultural Activities.
- Office
of Admissions – The Central Office of Admission's main
responsibilities are to offer information regarding admissions
requirements and procedures, distribute and collect admission
applications, prescreen completed applications, and refer them to the
schools admission's
committees for consideration,
- Financial
Aid Office – It is in charge of providing financial aid to
qualified students whose financial resources are not sufficient to
cover their educational expenses.
- Guidance
and Counseling Office - This
office complements the educational process by contributing to
the physical, mental, social and emotional development of students.
- Student
Health Services – Health services are offered by a physician and
a registered nurse at the Student Health Clinic. Dental emergency
services are offered in coordination with the Dental Clinic of the
School of Dentistry. Students needing acute emergency care are
referred to the Emergency Room of the Puerto Rico Medical Center, or
to private hospitals in the community.
- Cultural
Activities Office – It provides activities for the cultural
development of students and the campus community. These include
concerts, conferences, dances, lectures, films, variety shows, and
plays offered throughout the academic year.
- Quality
of Life Office – This office promotes quality of life and
wellness among students through various activities. These include, but
are not limited to, fitness and aerobic classes, psychological
counseling, workshops, special interest conferences, and participating
training, according to students identified needs during each academic
year.
Campus
Government Student Representation
Each
year, Medical Sciences Campus students meet for the purpose of electing
class boards, school student councils, and the General Student Council, as
well as for appointing representatives to institutional bodies.
Room
and Board
The
University of Puerto Rico, Medical Sciences Campus, does not offer room
and board services, but there are many private facilities near the campus
available for students.
