Functional Responsibilities

To develop information systems and cultures in the institution, establishing information standards and definitions to allow a clear and common understanding among the units that comprise the Medical Sciences Campus.

To synthesize and analyze data about the institutional operations, external and internal environment, and complete studies in order to produce relevant and useful knowledge for planning, allocation of resources, policy development, decision making, and accreditation.

To advise internal and external clients about the adequate use of knowledge and information for strategic planning, effective administration, assessment, accreditation, and allocation of resources.

To be the official source of accurate, precise, and systematic data and information regarding the Institution, its operations, processes, resources, and the institutional environment.

To identify and obtain access to state and federal agencies' databases containing relevant information for the Medical Sciences Campus.

To develop the technological capacity that allows the integration of Medical Sciences Campus, Central Administration, and external agencies' databases to generate the knowledge needed by the institution.

To establish the mechanisms to guarantee and maintain the quality, integrity, and promptness of the data analysis.

To disseminate information and institutional statistics about the Medical Sciences Campus operation and characteristics to federal and state agencies, Central Administration, Legislature, Council on Higher Education and the community in general.

To design and conduct institutional studies and peer institutions "benchmarking" analysis in order to increase the information basis for decision making, planning, and improvement.

To collaborate with the Deanship for Academic Affairs and the Schools in the accreditation and assessment processes and the implementation and evaluation of the strategic plan. Also to facilitate the integration of the processes of planning and budgeting.

To support the integration of the assessment, total quality management, institutional research, and strategic planning processes in order to maximize the value and impact of these activities on campus.

To establish strategies to obtain external funds through intramural practices and grants to guarantee complementary fiscal resources for the operation  of OIAR without affecting the quality of its services.
