GENERAL INFORMATION
The Academic Senate is the official forum of the academic community at the Medical Sciences Campus. It collaborates in establishing institutional academic norms, policies, and procedures and oversees the development of new curricular offerings.
There are currently:
Fifty-eight (58) Academic Senators:
Thirteen (13) ex-officio senators
Ø The President of the University of Puerto Rico
Ø The Chancellor of the Medical Sciences Campus
Ø Nine (9) deans
Ø The Library Director
Ø Guidance Counseling Office Director
Thirty-six (36) Academic Senators elected by the faculty.
Thirty-four(34) of the thirty-six (36) Academic Senators are Faculty.
One (1) librarian, selected by and among librarians.
One (1) person representing professional counselors, psychologist and social workers, selected by and among them.
Nine (9) Student Senators.

The Academic Senate holds its ordinary meetings on the first Thursday of each month at the 6th floor Amphitheater of the campus main building. Academic Senate meetings are open to the public.
